Can’t Get Your Teen to Open Up?

Therapy for Teens in Texas- Online and In-Person

From academic pressures, social challenges, and self-esteem issues, to more complex mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety, our team of therapists is dedicated to addressing a broad spectrum of adolescent struggles.

We offer a safe space where teens are heard, understood, and empowered.

“I’m Fine. Just Leave Me Alone!”

You have always prided yourself on being an open, understanding parent. You remember your own teenage years—those tumultuous times filled with a confusing mix of independence and vulnerability. But despite your best intentions, you find yourself in unfamiliar territory, like a sailor lost at sea with a compass that refuses to point north.

Your teen, once so lively and communicative, has become a puzzle. The bedroom door seems to be perpetually closed these days. Mornings are filled with one-word answers, and dinner tables are silent stages where the clinking of utensils substitutes for conversation. They used to love family movie nights; now they prefer the solitude of their room, the blue glow of their phone screen their only companion.

You’ve noticed other changes too. Their appetite is no longer what it used to be; even their favorite meals seem to go largely untouched. Their grades, once a point of pride, have started to slip, and their teacher has sent emails expressing concern. They’ve stopped talking about their friends, and you can’t remember the last time someone called to invite them out.

The look in their eyes—often downcast, avoiding yours—speaks volumes of an inner turmoil they don’t seem willing to share. You’ve tried to broach the subject gently, offering openings like, “Is everything okay at school?” or “You seem a bit down lately, want to talk about it?” But each attempt is met with the same deflective armor—a shrug, a forced smile, and the ever-reassuring “I’m fine, Mom/Dad.”

Your heart aches. You can see the signs—the withdrawal, the declining grades, and the emotional turbulence. The parental instinct in you shouts that something is amiss. Could it be depression? Anxiety? You lie in bed at night, staring at the ceiling, grappling with an array of unsettling thoughts.

How can you help them if they won’t let you in?

How Therapy Can Transform Your Teen's Life and Reconnect Your Family

At this delicate stage, professional support can be a lifeline—not just for your teen but for your entire family. Therapy offers a structured environment where your child can explore their thoughts and emotions with someone trained to guide them through the complexities of adolescence. It’s not about replacing the role you play as a parent; rather, it’s about adding another layer of support, another voice that speaks the language of emotional well-being.

Our specialized adolescent therapists understand the unique challenges teens face today. Whether it’s academic stress, peer pressure, self-esteem issues, or more serious concerns like anxiety and depression, we are equipped to offer targeted strategies for coping and healing. Through individual sessions, we aim to understand the specific needs of your teen and adapt our approaches accordingly. We employ a variety of techniques and tools that resonate with young people—be it through art, music, or even technology, we speak their language.

Moreover, we don’t just focus on the individual; we believe in fostering better communication within the family. Therapy can offer insights into your teen’s behavior and feelings, providing you with the understanding and tools you need to better connect with them. As parents, you’re still the most important figures in their lives. Our goal is to strengthen that connection, helping rebuild the bridge that feels like it’s been weakening.

Your Involvement is Crucial

As therapy progresses, there will be opportunities for joint sessions, activities, and exercises designed to facilitate better communication between you and your teen. It’s a partnership, one that places your child at the center, where they can feel supported, understood, and loved from multiple angles.

So, if you’ve been lying awake at night, wondering how to help your child, here is a tangible step you can take. Therapy isn’t a magic wand, but it is a proven pathway to better mental health and stronger family bonds.

You want your teen to have all the tools they need to navigate this critical stage of their lives successfully. You want to look back on these years as a time of growth, understanding, and renewed connection.

You Can Develop a Deeper Relationship with Your Teen

Imagine a life where the sound of laughter fills your home again, where the dinner table is a place of conversation, not just a pit stop for food. Picture yourself walking past your teen’s open bedroom door and seeing them immersed in a hobby they love, their eyes not clouded by the weight of unseen worries but sparkling with the light of engagement.

Feel the weight lift off your shoulders as you receive a call from their school, not to discuss plummeting grades or concerning behaviors, but to celebrate academic achievements and positive contributions to the community.

Think about those nights where sleep evades you, where worry twists your thoughts into knots. Now, replace them with peaceful evenings, where you drift off with the comforting knowledge that your teen is not just surviving but flourishing. You realize that they have friends, real friends who enrich their lives. Your child is dreaming big again, setting goals, and showing excitement about the future—about college, career, relationships, and all the milestones yet to come.

When you talk, it’s not just cursory exchanges but meaningful dialogue. They share their victories and their setbacks, their dreams and their worries. You don’t have all the answers, and that’s okay; what matters is that they’re asking the questions, reaching out instead of pulling away. And you, armed with the insights and strategies gleaned from your family’s therapeutic journey, are better equipped to guide and support them.

Feel that profound sense of relief, tinged with a newfound joy; the ever-present undercurrent of anxiety has been replaced by a wellspring of optimism. Your family has navigated the storm, and the skies are clear again. You didn’t just weather it alone; you did it as a unit, fortified by expert guidance and mutual love.

This is not a distant utopia; it’s a tangible future that’s within your grasp. With the support of our specialized therapists, you can turn this vision into your family’s reality.

You May Still Have Questions About Therapy for Teens...

What issues do your teen therapists specialize in?

We know that each teen is unique, facing their own set of challenges and hurdles as they navigate the complex world of adolescence. It can be incredibly difficult for you, as a parent, to witness your child struggling, especially when you’re not sure how best to help them.

That’s why our therapists are not just trained but deeply experienced in addressing a broad spectrum of issues that teens face. Whether your child is grappling with the emotional lows of depression, the constant worry of anxiety, self-esteem issues that affect how they see themselves, or body-image struggles that impact their well-being—we’re here to help. And for families of gifted children, we understand the unique challenges that come with their exceptional talents and sensitivities.

Our team of therapists is committed to tailoring their approach to fit your teen’s individual needs, offering a safe space for them to express themselves, find coping mechanisms, and grow both emotionally and mentally. We’re not just treating symptoms; we’re nurturing resilience and self-empowerment. Because your child isn’t just any teen; they’re your teen, deserving of care that recognizes their unique challenges and potential.

How much does teen therapy cost?

Fees for teen therapy vary based on the specific needs of your child and the duration of the sessions. On average, a 50-minute session starts at $150. Fees for Adventure Therapy (currently only offered in and around San Antonio) may be higher depending on the location and activity. Please contact us for more information.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance directly. While this may come as a surprise, there are important reasons for this choice.

Our primary concern is to ensure that you and your family remain in control of the therapeutic process, from start to finish. Accepting insurance often means that the insurance company has a say in the type, duration, and even the quality of care you receive.

We believe that the only people who should be making decisions about your teen’s well-being are you, your family, and your trusted healthcare providers. This allows us to focus on providing the best individualized care possible, without external constraints.

In addition to teletherapy, we also offer traditional in-person sessions for those who prefer face-to-face engagement.
