Meet Hunter Harris, LPC Associate

Under the supervision of Mark Cagle, LPC-S

Navigating life’s complexities can feel like you’re sailing in an uncharted ocean, daunting and overwhelming. If you’re here, I want you to know one thing – it’s okay. It’s okay to feel lost, to feel uncertain. You’re not alone. Finding a therapist – someone who truly gets you – can make a world of difference. And that’s exactly why I’m here.

Hello, I’m Hunter Harris. I’m not just a therapist – I’m a companion in your journey, an ally in your struggles, and a firm believer in your inherent strength and resilience. I’ve dedicated my career to guiding individuals like you, using a unique blend of traditional therapy and Adventure Therapy. Why Adventure Therapy, you might ask? Well, it’s an immersive, dynamic process that allows you to learn and grow in relation to the world around you. It’s all about perspective.

My Approach

Adventure Therapy- Embark on a Journey of Personal Growth

As the name implies, Adventure Therapy is a little different from what you might envision when you think of therapy. It takes us out of the office and into the great outdoors, turning the world into our therapeutic playground. But why the outdoors, you might ask? I believe that we’re intrinsically connected to nature, and by embracing this connection, we open up a whole new avenue for exploration, self-discovery, and growth.

My belief in the power of Adventure Therapy stems from a simple yet profound understanding: “Every emotion we have ever felt has risen and fallen…” Emotions, like the landscapes around us, are transient, ebbing and flowing as we journey through life. When we bring therapy into nature, we start to mirror these ebbs and flows, learning to navigate our emotional world just as we navigate the physical one.

Embracing the Great Outdoors

In Adventure Therapy, we engage in physical activities – from hiking and rock climbing to canoeing – that act as metaphors for the challenges we face in life. It’s not just about the activity itself, but about the feelings and experiences it evokes. It’s about overcoming barriers, building resilience, and gaining new perspectives.

This approach goes hand in hand with my core belief in therapy: “I believe that everyone has strengths and resources, exceptions to present challenges. I believe that feeling content does not come from finding, it comes from remembering.” Adventure Therapy provides a unique and engaging way to help you uncover these inherent strengths and resources.

Your Invitation to Adventure

So, if you’re feeling a bit lost in life’s vast ocean, Adventure Therapy might be the lighthouse you’re seeking. It’s an invitation to step outside, to challenge yourself, and to find healing and growth in ways you may have never imagined.

Remember, this journey isn’t about changing who you are, but about exploring who you can be. It’s about finding your compass and navigating your way to your preferred future. And as your guide, I’m here to walk alongside you, helping you discover and harness your potential, to ensure you feel empowered, clear-sighted, and capable of steering your own ship.

Are You Ready for an Adventure?

Adventure Therapy is not just a therapeutic approach; it’s an adventure of self-discovery, resilience, and personal growth. And I am here, ready to embark on this journey with you, in the spirit of empathy, warmth, and unwavering belief in your potential. So, are you ready for an adventure?

The Clients I Work Best With

Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and I believe it’s essential to find a therapeutic approach that resonates with you. My specialty lies in working with a particular group of individuals – adolescents and young men, as well as their families.

Navigating Adolescence and Early Adulthood

Adolescence and early adulthood are transformative stages, often filled with significant emotional growth and self-discovery. It’s also a time that can bring up complex emotions and challenges, from identity struggles, self-esteem issues, and relationship conflicts, to managing academic pressures, navigating career decisions, and grappling with societal expectations. These challenges, while difficult, can also become a catalyst for profound personal growth with the right guidance and support.

Who’s a Good Fit for Adventure Therapy?

Adventure therapy is a good fit for those with inherent curiosity, willingness to explore, and potential for growth and change. They bring a unique dynamism, energy, and openness to experience, which aligns perfectly with the spirit of Adventure Therapy.

Adventure Therapy offers an innovative way to engage in the therapy process using experiential activities and the power of nature to facilitate self-discovery, build resilience, and foster healthier relationships. It’s about taking therapy out of the traditional office setting and into the great outdoors, where we can explore, reflect, and learn in a naturally stimulating and enriching environment.

Families Growing Together

The families I work with are those eager to foster deeper connections, to understand and support each other through life’s challenges, and to grow together. Adventure Therapy encourages open communication, mutual understanding, and shared experiences – elements that are essential in strengthening family ties.

Beyond Challenges, Toward Self-Discovery

So, if you or a loved one are in this phase of life, grappling with the unique challenges that adolescence or early adulthood brings, I’m here to help. If you’re a family looking for ways to understand and support each other better, let’s embark on this journey together.

Adventure Therapy is about more than just tackling life’s challenges; it’s about tapping into your potential, exploring the world around you, and embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Together, we can navigate these transformative years and harness their potential to set a strong foundation for a life filled with resilience, self-awareness, and empowered personal growth.

Why Choose An LPC Associate

Choosing the right therapist for you can be a challenging process, and it's important to find someone who is the right fit for both of you.

A Fresh Perspective

As LPC Associates, we may be newer to the field, but we bring a fresh perspective to counseling. We are more familiar with the latest research and techniques, and may have a different approach to therapy than more experienced counselors.

Experience Doesn't Equal Better

While experience is certainly important in any field, when it comes to therapy, it's not always the determining factor for successful outcomes. What matters most is the therapist's approach, their ability to connect with clients, and their dedication to their clients' progress and growth.

Ongoing Supervision

We want you to know that our regular supervision with a more experienced clinician is an important part of the care we provide to our clients. This added layer of support ensures that we are always providing the highest level of care possible and allows us to continually improve and refine our skills as a therapist.
